Did you know…

… that Porto had an important role during the Portuguese Civil War, in the 19th century?

Also known as Liberal Wars and War of the Two Brothers, the Portuguese Civil War was a battle between progressive constitutionalists and authoritarian absolutists over royal succession. Porto was one of the most important battlefields of this war! The city was under a siege for one year (1832-33. Back them, the liberal troops and the locals of Porto were resisting and bravely fighting together. Up until today, it is still possible to find evidences of those battles spread in Porto’s streets!
