Off days are coming and here is what you can do!
It’s almost the weekend! Let us show you what you can do in Porto to enjoy it! Take a look atour selection of cool events to join:
ALUMIA, an artistic project promoted by the City Hall, will have a new moment of artistic creation! On May 27th, the installation Porto Chama will be executed by the French company Carabosse. This installation is located at Largo do Amor de Perdição and you can check it between 9 pm and midnight. The visit is free and everyone is invited to this unique experience, specially designed for the Historic Center of Porto! Accompanied by a musical performance, the flames of the new artwork will illuminate Porto just for one night!
This weekend you cannot miss Porto Blues Fest! The first edition of this music festival will celebrate jazz and blues with heavy names of the industry. The event will take place at the Acoustic Shell in the middle of the Cristal Palace Gardens.
The first night of the festival, on Friday 26th, will begin at 10 pm with Delta Blues Riders, a Portuguese band inspired by the Mississippi Delta and Interstate 55, linking New Orleans and Chicago.
After, the voice of British Julian Burdock will be joined by the harmonica of Spanish Danny del Toro. This experienced duo promises great musical diversity, with themes ranging from bottleneck blues to funk, including some original compositions.
But the biggest attraction of Porto Blues Fest has to be the performance of Shirley King and Rui Veloso – which is a true “portuense” and the only Portuguese musician who performed with the “King of Blues”! The concert starts at 10 pm on May 27, Saturday. Tickets cost 25€ for the two days of the festival.
Saturday 27th is also time for the best edition of the Porto Extreme XL Lagares, starting at 10 o’clock at Porto’s Ribeira. If you like motorcycles and extreme emotions you need to see this demonstration! This year, 225 pilots will be participating, representing 16 different nationalities. Let the show begin!
With the European Design Awards 2017 happening in Porto we now have the opportunity, during the weekend, to see the exhibition Two Pages, at Silo Auto!
Founded in 2012, Two Pages had the contribution of more than 450 artists. New York, London, Seoul, Tokyo, Paris, Berlin, Athens, Santiago de Chile, and Porto are some of the cities that draw a geography of the creative current that launches the radar on new talents and generates trends in the field of visual communication. This exhibition brings together 112 works by designers, illustrators, and artists from different parts of the world, including Porto, who participated in the design of the 15 “sketchbooks”. In this selection of works, illustration, photography, and design appear to point out different approaches to visual creation.
I hope you enjoyed our tips for this weekend! Every time that you need some advice on what to do while in the city, just give us a call! We can show you the best places in town ;)
