Why you should visit… the City Gallery

Explore Porto with us. Today our tip is the City Gallery!

Located in the beautiful Palácio de Cristal Gardens, together with Almeida Garrett Public Library, the City Gallery was designed by the architect José Manuel Soares and opened up in 2001. However, it was only in 2013 that the gallery’s mission was renovated, now holding a fresh program dedicated to visual arts, design and architecture exhibitions! The gallery is a responsibility of the Culture Sector of Porto City Hall but its activities are often co-organized by renowned national and international institutions.

With 1500 square meters of exhibition space divided into two floors, the City Gallery regularly presents group shows and private collections. Every Saturday, at 4 pm, they offer free guided tours to the exhibitions! But if you prefer to check it by yourself, the working hours are from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Sundays, from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Don’t miss the chance to see what’s happening on Porto’s artistic scene! Visit the City Gallery and explore the contemporary side of Porto.
